KINGSTON, Jamaica |
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has confirmed the recovery of a fifth illegal firearm on Tuesday during a follow-up operation linked to a dramatic shootout in Jacks Hill, St Andrew, that left five men dead.
The latest weapon recovered — a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition — was found between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Jacks Hill Road, the same area where Monday’s confrontation took place.
Police Confrontation Foils Alleged Contract Killing
Monday’s operation was reportedly aimed at intercepting a group of armed men allegedly hired to carry out a murder. A confrontation erupted between police and the suspects, resulting in the fatal shooting of five men and the initial seizure of four firearms. The names of the deceased have yet to be released pending further investigation.
One Suspect Escapes — Public Urged to Assist
Authorities say a sixth man escaped the scene and remains at large. The JCF is urging the public to come forward with any information on Courtney Ashley, also known as "Bloodstain", who is being sought in connection with the case.

The operation is being led by investigators from the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC), who have reiterated their appeal for Ashley to report immediately.
Our Opinion
The bold nature of this foiled murder plot raises alarms about the growing organization of contract killings and gun-related violence in upscale and urban areas alike. While police intervention prevented a likely tragedy, the loss of life and continued presence of fugitives like “Bloodstain” highlight deeper security and crime challenges. We commend the quick recovery of firearms and encourage the public to support the ongoing investigation by reporting any leads.
