The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has imposed a 48-hour curfew in sections of the Kingston Eastern Police Division, effective 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2.
The move comes in response to heightened security concerns in the area.
🗺️ CURFEW BOUNDARIES
Authorities have outlined the curfew zone with the following borders:
-
North: From Mountain View Primary School to Cane River Falls
-
East: From Cane River Falls to the bridge at 10 Miles, Bull Bay
-
South: Along the coastline from 10 Miles bridge to Flag Circle
-
West: From Flag Circle to South Camp Road, then to Vineyard Road, and back to Mountain View Primary
🚨 SECURITY MEASURES & PUBLIC NOTICE
During the curfew period, only authorized personnel and essential movements will be allowed. The JCF urges all residents within the curfew zone to remain indoors unless otherwise permitted by law enforcement.
The police are expected to conduct searches, surveillance, and operations targeting criminal activity, particularly in light of ongoing violence and gang-related incidents in surrounding communities.
🛑 PUBLIC WARNING
Residents and motorists should cooperate fully with law enforcement, follow instructions at checkpoints, and avoid unnecessary movement within the curfew boundaries. Failure to comply may result in legal action or detention.
🗣️ OUR TAKE
Curfews are drastic but sometimes necessary. However, these measures should come with community communication, fairness, and transparency. We urge the JCF to exercise professionalism and respect in all interactions while prioritizing citizen safety and dignity.
Stay alert. Stay informed.
