St Jago’s Renae Sommerville Drops Out of School Challenge Quiz — Gains National Support After Reaching Out to Miss Kitty
Jamaica – In a surprising turn of events, St Jago High School student Renae Sommerville has withdrawn from the prestigious TVJ School Challenge Quiz, following a reported rule breach that cost her team a spot in the final round. As a result, Titchfield High has officially taken their place in the finals.
The announcement sparked disappointment among supporters of St Jago, but it was Renae’s courageous response to the setback that has since captured national attention.
In a heartfelt video posted online, Renae opened up about the emotional toll of the incident and her deep desire to continue her dream of becoming a lawyer. Addressing her message directly to media personality and attorney Miss Kitty, Renae said:
“As I sit here, reflecting on my journey, I’m reminded of the countless obstacles that have threatened to derail my dreams… But I refuse to let setbacks define me.”
Renae spoke candidly about her disappointment, but also her resilience. She shared that she plans to pursue a law degree at the University of the West Indies (UWI), and asked for the public’s support in helping to fund her tuition.
Moved by her passion, Miss Kitty responded with an incredible offer—a scholarship to support Renae’s journey into law school.
“Your contribution is more than just a donation – it’s a declaration of faith in my ability to make a difference,” Renae added, thanking the public for believing in her.
Her story has since gone viral, drawing praise from fellow students, educators, and public figures across the island. Many are hailing her strength and maturity, calling her an example of grace under pressure.
While the quiz journey may have ended early for Renae, a new chapter has already begun—one filled with purpose, passion, and possibility.
